The Ngai Tai rohe /area of interest within the wider Hauraki "Matakana ki Matakana" rohe extends from the top of Kohukohunui maunga (in the Hunua Ranges) to Otata on Aotea (Great Barrier Island), then to Kawau Island and south to Te Onewa "by the Harbour Bridge", then down State Highway 1 to Mangatawhiri and back north to Kohukohunui.
