The Tūhoe rohe covers a vast area from inland Whakatane on its northern boundaries, to Waiootahe on its eastern boundaries, and stretches south to Waikaremoana encompassing Te Urewera, and to Kaingaroa on its western front. Scattered within this expansive region of bush are the communities of Tūhoe.
